Back To School

My name is Gage, and I live at Residing Hope. When I first arrived at Residing Hope, my biggest challenge was figuring out the path that God had laid in front of me. But the Spiritual Life program has really helped me, and I think I’m now on the right path.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in the Florida Future Chefs Cook-Off, and work with Chef Taylor to create a delicious alligator dish with a sweet potato puree and fresh cole slaw. That’s me pictured with Mr. Vazquez, one of the teaching parents in my cottage, and Chef Taylor. I had always been interested in cooking, but this experience really peeked that interest, and I’ve decided that I want to pursue a career in culinary arts.

As the summer is winding down, the next school year is just around the corner. I’ll be continuing my education at Legacy Scholars Academy, our on-campus school, with my eyes set on keeping my grades up and going to college. Your generous gift today will help to make sure that I and all the other children here have the materials we need to be successful in the coming school year, in addition to our daily needs.

With your help, I am planning to graduate high school, then attend Daytona State College where they have a great culinary arts program. Ultimately I would like to become a chef so I can create new and exciting dishes in a nice restaurant. In the meantime, I’ll be working on keeping my grades up and cooking more often for everyone in my cottage.

Thank you again for your gift today!
